Union Town Center Updates
In May 2014, the City of Union, the Boone County Planning Commission and the Union Economic Development Committee (EDC) invited commercial and residential real estate professionals to a half day event at the new Union Fire Station. The purpose of the event was to simply recruit a developer to begin the first phase of the Union Town Center. Featured speakers included Carol Callen Ramler, P.E. from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Kevin P. Costello, AICP from the Boone County Planning Commission, Jim Parsons, Esq. from the Taft Law Firm and Bob Dames, Owner of Flipdaddy's. Topics included an update of the Mt. Zion Road (KY 536) project; development and demographic trends in the Union area; available development sites; target businesses; focus group results; and financing options. The event wrapped up with a featured presentation by Bob Dames, who spoke about why he selected Union for his first Kentucky restaurant. Approximately 25 people attended the event and follow-up work is being conducted. The Union Economic Development Committee (EDC) and the Boone County Planning Commission staff are currently meeting with a variety of developers.
